Meet Dr. Koebley
Dr. Koebley is a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School which is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Influenced by his Methodist pastor, Dr. Koebley attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated with a B.S. in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology.
After a year of study in the department of Physiology and Biophysics at West Virginia University, he was accepted into the WVU School of Dentistry .He graduated with awards in endodontic and removable prosthodontics. Following his graduation, he taught at WVU School of Dentistry.
Dr. Koebley, his wife Anne, and young daughter Meghan, moved to Smithfield where he opened his practice. The community of Smithfield welcomed them with open arms. While Dr. Koebley was working hard as a young dentist to meet the needs of his patients, a set of twins arrived to round out the family.
Among many of Dr. Koebley’s interests are hiking, especially on the Appalachian Trail. Saltwater fishing with his son and sons-in law on Ocracoke Island and visiting with family. At home he enjoys working in his vegetable garden He is a voracious reader, most especially about health, world economic issues, the next city he would like to visit, and the environment. He is training to run a 10 k with his daughter Meghan who lives in Portland, Maine with her husband John and year old daughter Lakin.
Daughter Meredith and husband Colin are Methodist pastors living in Cary, N.C. His son David lives in Wilmington, N.C. where he works for the Country Vintner as a wine representative. He loves to surf and is active in many downtown beautification projects.
Dr. Koebley has been a "life long learner" and has continued his dental education in many areas. He has attended the LD Pankey Institute, Niles Guichet Occlusion Continuum, Bicon Dental Implant Institute, and Camlog Implant, Cerec crown, and Waterlase Laser courses. He is a member of the Johnston County Dental Society, the NC Dental Society, the ADA and the International Team for Implantology Study Club. He volunteers with the NCDS MOM’s clinics.
In his years in the community of Smithfield Dr. Koebley has taken an active role in Boy Scouts as a Scout leader. He has also taken leadership roles in service organizations such as the Lion’s Club, Jaycees and Rotary.
Dr. Koebley presently serves on the Howell Woods Advisory Board and the Johnston Community Foundation Board.
He and his wife attend Centenary United Methodist Church where Dr. Koebley has been a volunteer with youth mission trips.
